From February 5th – 9th, 2024, ‘Journey Week’ will include in-person classroom presentations, career panels, and public evening events taking place in Hilo, Hawaiʻi. The astronomy community, led by Gemini Observatory/NOIRLab in partnership with the Department of Education Hilo-Waiākea Complex Area, inspires students to explore Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) fields through exposure to a variety of careers and engaging hands-on activities and phenomena. Students experience the unique science happening at the Maunakea Observatories and beyond through these yearly classroom visits by astronomers, engineers and other STEM professionals

Moana Surf Rider is prohibiiting use of thier balconies after a balcony raining feel off the lanai and 2 injuries occured fortunately serious injuries.
Take this story as a cue for me to offer my volunteer lifeguard pro tip:
When on vacation or for that matter anywhere you have a balcony or lanai ’s DO NOT LEAN ON THE RAILINGS.
From National Trial Lawers The Killino Firm, P.C. they warn; Deck Collapse is a greater problem than many people are aware of. Ever year, more than 6,000 people suffer serious injuries, life long disabilities and even death from a balcony, deck collapse or deck failure. Even though building requirements and codes have become more stringent over the years, millions of decks that were built decades ago–particularly on old beach properties in America– were built before the codes got tougher. Far too many decks are still in use without any upkeep, having become dilapidated and dangerous. And deck collapses most always are preventable.
