HiP weekly Weather Forecast-  Friday May 10th to Thursday May 16th 2024

Weather Conditions for Oahu-

https://www.timeanddate.com/weather/usa/honolulu/ext

This week we will see scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms throughout the week, but that does not mean it’s gonna be cloudy. There’s gonna be plenty of sunshine. but do keep in mind that Tuesday will have the greatest likelihood of thunderstorms. I like thunderstorms. We don’t get a lot of thunderstorms in the islands so this is kind of exciting for me. Hopefully, it’s not too much rain that would ruin your vacation.

Winds- the winds are moderate starting off at about 10 mph this weekend and dropping down to about 5 mph on Tuesday. That’s when the humidity will increase and the wind direction will shift directly out of the east. The wind will remain calm through Thursday

Temperatures average-

Highs will range between 81- 83F (26-27C) with the warmest day and the sunniest day on thursday, humidity will be 60%

Lows will this week range between 66 – 70F (20-22C) with the coolest night – next thursday

Sea Temperatures:

This Week

Daylight – More than 13  hours of daylight, and with these thunderstorms bringing in cumulus clouds, the sunsets and sunrises should be quite fantastic

At this point it’s just 25 minutes away from sunset which means in June we will no longer have Jupiter and our evening sky. However, you will be able to see Jupiter rise early in the morning during the month of June, and then Venus will have returned to our skies and that’s a story for another astronomical note in the future

LOCAL NEWS

Let’s start things off with water safety. This is a tragic story about a visitor from the mainland who got off the airplane with snorkeling and ended up dying, but he didn’t die in the water. He died on the beach and snorkeling as the reason as well as air, travel, and here is the story from KHON

I want to remind you that it’s a good idea to always rest after long trips on an airplane. Don’t overexert yourself go down to the bar have a mai tai watch the sunset maybe hit the beach the next day, but go scuba diving and snorkeling after three days, you don’t go scuba diving the day before you, leave on an airplane either

Our next story is an update from Maui people often ask me when they get in the car, with concerned in their voice, how’s Maui doing? And I tell them that they are recovering, but there’s still people who haven’t found permanent home since being displaced. It’s something a lot of people don’t think about when it comes to wildfires that destroy town. People have to flee their homes and sometimes they’re not able to come back to their homes so they need to have another home at least a place to call home. Everybody sees the news on the fires news organizations report on the aftermath of these disasters, so with an update from Maui here is KITV

Over the last couple months, the big island has been experiencing tremors and earthquakes that are generated by volcanic activity. The volcano in question is Kilauea. There was a major earthquake on the big island of about a month and a half ago. We felt it over here on a Oahu caused damage at the visitor center at the top of volcano national park and said they’re going to be repairing it for the next two year. Meanwhile, the tremors continue but Park officials have yet to close volcano national park and here with an update is big island news.

And now for a story about one of my favorite places that you can find in most major cities and I always try to visit these places because you never know what you’re gonna see new at the zoo and here at the Honolulu zoo we have a new resident. It’s a Sumatran tiger. Zoo officials are hoping by introducing this new tiger. Perhaps it will spark a little love. here with the story is KHON
